The York Daily Record staff wants to meet you
This week I had the pleasure once again of meeting with the students of Leadership York. I have worked with them for about 10 years, and this is always a group of bright and curious people. They are up-and-comers who recognize that they have a responsibility to give back to the community that has supported them.
As a guest teacher, of sorts, I talk with them about how we arrive at the coverage decisions we make every day. I also try to help them understand how changes in technology affect our role and our abilities to share information and host the public debate.
Next week I will be at Dallastown Area Middle School to talk with 8th-graders about what it’s like to be a journalist, and I’ll have dinner with the Dover Lions Club and talk about where our business is headed.
And this is a quiet month for such visits.
The truth is, the staff of the Daily Record is always eager to provide a guest speaker, to host a tour of our facility, to judge a contest, moderate a forum or just smile and shake hands. We meet with students in classrooms and Girl Scouts in church basements. Heck, we even meet with with readers at their favorite restaurant.
If you would like to arrange a visit from a reporter, photographer or editor, just email us at news@ydr.com. We’ll be happy to find a time that works. We can talk about the work we are doing, the work you are doing, or help you do a better job of sharing the good works being done by you and your organization.
