The people talked, the candidates listened

I had a blast at the recent Candidates’ Night to Listen event, co-sponsored by the York Daily Record/Sunday News and the York College Department of History and Political Science. What a thrill it was to see so many good, community-minded people come together to debate important national issues in a civil way.
When managing editor Randy Parker proposed this idea, I thought, “This could be outstanding – or it could be a disaster.”
It was outstanding.
Hundreds of people came out to tell the candidates what they should focus on if they are elected to Congress as Rep. Todd Platts’ successor. I recognized many of the names as regular writers of letters to the editor. As opinion page editor, these are my peeps. Keep those comments coming!
