Artistic vision evolves for Mobile Media Lab design team

Our artists have been collaborating and brainstorming and refining their concepts for the Mobile Media Lab. We are getting close — close enough that it really is important for you to chime in with critiques and coaching points. We’ve never done anything like this before, but we’re really hoping to get this on the road by the end of June.

I shared a first run at some concepts with you last week. Here now are some images from the second run by Sam Dellinger and Tink. Click on each thumbnail to see a bigger version of the digital sketch.

I have also been working with Brittany Wilson, a multi-platform journalist who will help us develop social media platforms to help tell the story of the Mobile Media Lab. Here on the YDR Insider, we will write about our visits and share photos from our visits with you. On Facebook, we will offer an events calendar for the lab so that you know where we are going and to make it easy for you to invite your friends to join us. On Twitter, we will share live updates from the van and talk directly with you even while we are in “teaching” mode.

What else do you think we should do to help the public be a part of this adventure?

A key piece of information we might want to develop before we build out any of these sites is the final, formal name of the vehicle. The grant was for a mobile media lab, but that sounds rather clinical, don’t ya think? I have used the name YES-UV for this concept.

What do you think? What is the best possible name for a project whose mission is to put the latest technology in the hands of the readers and to help them better use new tools to share and receive the news and information they need to lead better lives?
