Droves of shoppers sorted through 13,000 pieces of various Pfaltzgraff collections at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorkheritage.org\">York County Heritage Trust&#8217;s<\/a> Agricultural and Industrial Museum. The sale ends at 4 p.m. today,\u00a0 Sept. 24. (See additional pottery photo below.) Also of interest: <a href=\"\/yorktownsquare\/2009\/10\/29\/utz-and-snyders-and-harley\/\">York County, Pa. made big, heavy things \u2013 and was immensely proud of it.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now that the Pfaltzgraff pottery sale is winding down, what will become of the proceeds of this event?<\/p>\n<p>The sale of the collection is a rite of passage on the 200th anniversary of the potterymaker that grew from York County&#8217;s soil. Or perhaps it&#8217;s one last farewell.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, we&#8217;ll see Pfaltzgraff pottery for years and years, as the <a href=\"http:\/\/yorkheritage.org\/specialevents.asp?id=5\">York County Heritage Trust&#8217;s website<\/a> says in answering the original question.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds will ensure a visible Pfaltzgraff legacy in York County:<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;Over the years, the company saved and gathered a huge collection of products and manuscripts that represented the company\u2019s development.\u00a0 The permanent archives, both product and manuscript, will come from this Pfaltzgraff collection and will be housed by the York County Heritage Trust.\u00a0 It will provide a resource for scholars and other interested people to learn the history and importance of Pfaltzgraff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; In 1989 an exhibit opened at the then Historical Society of York County, accompanied by a book of the same name, &#8220;Pfaltzgraff America\u2019s Potter.&#8221; A portion of this exhibit is currently on display at the Agricultural &amp; Industrial Museum.\u00a0 In recent years the York County Heritage Trust was employed to help organize Pfaltzgraff\u2019s huge collection of items.\u00a0 During the process, a representation of the history of Pfaltzgraff was created, to be known as the Pfaltzgraff Archives.\u00a0 These archived items will not be sold.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Also of interest<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>\u00b7<\/strong> <a href=\"\/yorktownsquare\/2009\/02\/11\/pfaltzgraf\/\">Dragon-style pottery pieces, picked up in York County, intrigue reader<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00b7<\/strong> <a href=\"\/yorktownsquare\/2008\/03\/pottery-put-the-other-foustown.html\">Pottery put the other Foustown &#8211; the one in Manchester Township &#8211; on the map<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00b7<\/strong> <a href=\"\/yorktownsquare\/2009\/08\/13\/stationtrivia\/\">What do York radio station WSBA&#8217;s call letters stand for?
