Doug Winemiller is one of the leading preservationists working to get the Stewartstown Railroad operating again.<\/p>\n

In past e-mails, he’s noted that many of the original rails are still in place on the line, a shortline that hauled agricultural products between Stewartstown and points east with the Northern Central Railroad at New Freedom.<\/p>\n

He included a photo to prove his point… .<\/p>\n


\nWinemiller’s preservation group, Friends of the Stewartstown Railroad <\/a>, are renewing repair work on the station, concentrating on the old building’s roof. (Click here<\/a> to see the work calendar.)<\/p>\n

They truly are striving to live up to their motto: “A new voice for an old friend.”
