Low-flying plane post leads the pack in YorkTownSquare.com’s Top 10 most viewed of 2013
A York Town Square post of a low-flying military plane gained more traffic than any other story in 2013. The plane circled the York-area sky on a busy Friday football night, capturing the attention of thousands of York countians. It then flew away. I put other military plane appearances – and crashes – in the post to give a sense of history. By the way, as of this writing, the government hasn’t offered an explanation about why it was flying so low. Also of interest: Most viewed, 2012; Most viewed: 2011; Most viewed: 2010.

In 2013, I added videos in greater numbers to York Town Square. This visual form of storytelling is gaining in popularity so I’ve been added this to the mix. In particular, the YDR has added a social media tool called Tout, which enables immediate publication of 45-second videos, such as the YDR’s Sonya Paclob’s below.
Also, I’ve been posting “History mystery” posts, such as below, on YDR Facebook page. This gets York Town Square posts before the eyes of 25,000 fans, including many who are not students of history. It’s amazing the amount of engagement – likes, shares and comments – these posts receive. These quizzes usually don’t appear elsewhere so feel free to become a fan of YDR’s page and the quizzes will appear on your newsfeed.
