Hard to believe. It’s been five years since the York County Vietnam Memorial went up at the York Expo Center. Here’s the Oct. 3, 2009, story on its public introduction to prove it: 2,000 witness unveiling of York County Vietnam Memorial. In this photo, workers prepare the memorial for its fifth anniversary observance in October. Chapter 1032 Vietnam Veterans of America is planning the event at the memorial, the work of York County sculptor, Lorann Jacobs.

This scene from Goldsboro’s square accomplishes a couple of things this Memorial Day. It’s one of the scores of memorials highlighted in this map of York County veterans memorials. And it shows one of two islands in the squares of York County towns. Traffic circulates around this memorial and the grassy square in Jefferson. (Abbottstown and New Oxford, with their traffic circles, are in Adams County.)

The North Carolina Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association helped kicked off Veterans Day, 2013, with a display of a UH-1H gunship, a UH-1C medivac helicopter and a OH-58 observation helicopter in Gettysburg. They were exhibited at the Outlet Shoppes in Adams County last week.
