Halloween Park at Harry Hykes old mill near Strinestown in Conewago Township sustained flood damage again this year. Operators hope to have some of the attraction open by Halloween. This sad moment serves as a reminder of the days when Hykes and other York County, Pa., mill operators faced the same unpredictable weather that impacted their way of life.

Dover Township’s John Yost has a new water line on his 1840 home. ‘The nearby Conewago Creek flooded up his driveway and porch and almost surpassed his first-floor windowsills,’ York, Pa., Daily Record/Sunday News photographer Chris Dunn wrote in this ydr.com Media Center gallery photo’s caption.

This photo shared by James Forsythe gave us an early glimpses Thursday night of the extent of this Storm of October 2013. We call it that because no one has invented a name with ‘pocolypse’; yet. Thankfully. And thanks to emergency workers who rescues numerous people from the rising waters made any such irrelevant. Anyway, John Forsythe’s photo shows flooding on I-83 past the Glen Rock exit around 6 p.m.
