These Springettsbury Township, Pa., steps don’t make sense. Why would someone want to walk from one fast-food place – Wendy’s – to another, Arby’s, both the the 2700 block of Route 462. So they must be left over from another time.

Here’s a spot that hasn’t yet been here on YorkTownSquare.com , and we specialize in finding favorite – and obscure – spots around here, Pinnacle Overlook on the Lancaster side of the Susquehanna. Lancaster County Conservancy has received the 80-acre scenic vista near Holtwood Dam from PPL Electric. A York Daily Record/Sunday New story on such developments along the Susquehanna brought forth this interesting viewpoint from Susquehanna Gateway Heritage Area.

After this YorkTownSquare.com post – Maryland nature center offers high dam, intact mill – I received this wonderfully composed photo of the Eden Mill Dam. It sits on Deer Creek in northern Maryland, but it has decided York County ties. The dam and nearby mill provided electricity for Fawn Grove in southeastern York County for years. Don McClure, the photographer, provided a couple of more photos of Eden Mill Nature Center on my Facebook page.

Dwight D. Eisenhower probably never drove this 1955 Cockshutt Blackhawk 40 tractor, but it was part of his Gettysburg farm at the the time of his death. The Evening Sun in Hanover reported that it was on display with other antiques that were part of Adams County farmer Stanley Wolf’s collection.

This is another 1932 York Fair photograph, courtesy of the York County Heritage Trust. What might be just as absorbing as the uncovered bandstand across the the 1926 grandstand is the area outside the York Fair’s fence. Look north in all directions, and there just isn’t much to see other than farmland. Anything else catch your eye? Please comment below. The aerial view was captured by the Madison Bay Company of East Berlin.
