CHAPTER\u00a0 1\u00a0 . . . EUREKA . . .\u00a0 Part 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stephie\u2019s Mom looks at her daughter sitting at the kitchen table, off her phone now and intently listening.\u00a0 After another protracted period where Melody continues doing all the talking, Stephie\u2019s Mom at long last responds, \u201cI\u2019ll keep your secret.\u201d\u00a0 She then announces, \u201cStephie, I guess you realize who\u2019s on the phone.\u00a0 Melody.\u00a0 She wants to ask you a question.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephie darts to the phone and grabs it from her Mom.\u00a0 Stephie exclaims, \u201cMelody, nice to hear from you.\u00a0 What\u2019s new?\u201d<\/p>\n

Melody gushes, \u201cI\u2019m getting married this coming Saturday.\u00a0 I want you to be in my wedding?\u00a0 Will you do that for me?\u201d<\/p>\n

While Stephie was prepared to act surprised, she actually got caught up in the moment and was almost genuinely surprised.\u00a0 \u201cCongratulations.\u00a0 How long have you known him?\u00a0 Where are you getting married?\u00a0 Is it going to be a big wedding?\u00a0 I\u2019ve never been in a wedding.\u00a0 What do you want me to do?\u201d<\/p>\n

Melody interrupted the string of questions, \u201cI want you to be one of my bridesmaids.\u00a0 I know that it is short notice, but if you could fly out to Denver early Wednesday, you can help with everything that needs to get done before the big day on Saturday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephie quizzed, \u201c Really, only a few days to get everything done for a wedding?<\/p>\n

Melody assured her, \u201cAs I told your Mom, I call my wedding a limited elopement.\u00a0 The wedding will be extremely small as far as guests, however the wedding party will be typical except for casual dress all around.\u00a0 My parents and his parents think they are meeting us for dinner on Saturday.\u00a0 The wedding is going to be a surprise to them.\u00a0 I\u2019ve already sworn your Mom to secrecy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI told your Mom that I just got off the phone with Ashley.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also asked her to be a bridesmaid.\u00a0 I\u2019ll e-mail the details.\u00a0 Got to run now.\u201d\u00a0 As Melody concluded, \u201cTalk to you later,\u201d Stephie was brought back to reality, this was all part of the plan to get them out to Colorado.<\/p>\n

Stephie was discussing the rather strange wedding with her Mom as Ashley knocks on and enters the back door of their house.\u00a0 Ashley excitedly asks, \u201cDid you get your call from Melody?\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephie raised her hands high and started to dance around the kitchen.\u00a0 Ashley immediately joined her, with both girls repeating in unison, \u201cWe\u2019re going to be in a wedding.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to be in a wedding\u201d<\/p>\n

Later that evening, Ashley told her parents about the wedding and swore them to secrecy.\u00a0 Ashley knew her Mom would be the one to check into the wedding further, so she let it slip that Stephie\u2019s Mom had first hand knowledge about the wedding.<\/p>\n

The girls soon had their plane tickets for Denver and the blessings of their parents.\u00a0 Ashley\u2019s Dad even managed to get them booked on a direct flight from Baltimore-Washington International to Denver.\u00a0 It was definitely an early departure, although worth it for getting them into Denver at 9:45am local time on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, while waiting at the departure gate, Stephie quizzed Ashley, \u201cWhat about the end-game for your \u2018brilliant plan.\u2019\u00a0 Does Melody have to get married to pull the plan off?\u201d\u00a0 Ashley explained, \u201cIt\u2019s all a smoke-screen.\u00a0 We\u2019ll tell our parents when returning Sunday, Melody and her boyfriend had a fight Saturday before the dinner.\u00a0 The dinner with their parents continued, however the marriage was delayed for the time being.\u00a0 Their parents none the wiser that there was ever going to be a wedding.\u201d<\/p>\n

At long last, Ashley and Stephie are on the plane bound for Denver, on yet another quest for Danny\u2019s Gold.\u00a0 Anxious to find a key clue they were convinced was in a Nineteenth Century Billmeyer and Small<\/a> rail car being restored at the Colorado Railroad Museum.\u00a0 Just as the plane takes off, Stephie exclaims, \u201cYou know what we forgot?<\/p>\n
