Springettsbury History Night event on Wednesday evening October 12, 2022 is in the York Area United Fire and Rescue Meeting Room, located at 50 Commons Drive (rear of building), York, PA 17402, at 7:00 P.M. The event will focus on the history and impact of railroad and trolley service; where you will learn about stations, stops and stories of “Rails through Springettsbury.”
Five distinct rail lines will be discussed in this presentation: the railroad and trolley through the York Valley, two railroads through the Codorus Valley, and a narrow gauge railroad in Springettsbury Township. Some neat finds, especially about railroad and trolley bridges, were discovered in researching this talk.
As with previous Springettsbury History Nights, they are also available for viewing via a YouTube video a week or two following the event. I’ll let everyone know when the video of “Rails through Springettsbury” is available.
