NEVER BUILT . . . The Town of Pleasant Garden and other Curiosities

In April of 2013, I was giving a presentation at the Zimmerman Center for Heritage; discussing finding the location of the Town of Pleasant Garden, among other things. Mark Platts noted that High Street, within the planned Town of Pleasant Garden, shows up on the 1801 Benjamin Henry Latrobe Map of the Susquehanna River. Mark brought out a small copy of Latrobe’s map; there it was, a street at the proper location, leading up from the river.
As I’ve noted on the Birds Eye Aerial View, the old Farm Lane within the Native Lands County Park is the location of High Street in the planned Town of Pleasant Garden. These findings, plus a few related curiosities, have evolved into my latest talk, entitled “NEVER BUILT . . . The Town of Pleasant Garden and other Curiosities.”
