York Daily Record Jason Plotkin a nominee for EPPY Award

//

A Facebook post about Jason Plotkin’s most recent honor. He had just won another big award in September.

The YDR’s Jason Plotkin received word this week that he is one of three nominees for an Eppy Award. (Update, 10/29: Jason won the Eppy Award).

Here’s his editor, Eileen Joyce’s note about the achievement:

“Jason Plotkin’s video ‘The hands and heart of Paul Miller’ was announced as an Eppy finalist for Best News or Event Video with under 1 million unique monthly videos. The Eppy’s are Editor and Publisher’s international awards that recognize media-affiliated websites. Other nominees in Jason’s category are Minnesota Public Radio and the Center for Public Integrity’s International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. The Eppy winners will be announced on October 29th.

“The Paul Miller video was also nominated for a regional Emmy and won second place in the Keystone awards for best video story. Photos from the story won a PAPME award for Best in Show.”

Another wonderful part of the award is that it places Paul Miller and his brave story back into the public square.

Recently, the York Daily Record/Sunday News has achieved additional significant awards:

– Opinion Page editor Scott Fisher won a second place in statewide competition in the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s competition – the Schnader Awards.  He competed in the Editorial/Commentary category.

– The YDR won the General Excellence Award in its category in the Newspaper of the Year competition. The YDR picked up five first-place wins in its division.
