SLUG: CRIMEAPP0125 — The Pa. State Police recently launched a smartphone app that allows citizens to submit suspicious activity via their Androids or iPhones. The few-weeks-old, free app is being praised by PSP, but many York area people on Facebook are saying it’s a threat to their privacy and too much like Big Brother. The PSP maintains that the app does not track the location of phones or save any private information. I also spoke with local law enforcement agencies about what they think of the technology.
