Supporting the Christmas Emergency Fund

This is something I got at the employee auction — just the caddy. I have the feeling it was surplus office supplies but I love things that hold other things in the name of being better organized. I paid $3.60. Money goes to a good cause.

Each year, our company raises money through The Christmas Emergency Fund to benefit the York County Food Bank.  To donate, send your tax-deductible contribution to YDR Christmas Emergency Fund, c/o York Traditions, 235 St. Charles Way, York, 17402. To get help, visit www.yorkfoodbank.org for a list of food pantries in the county supplied by the food bank.

Also, check out this story by Mike Argento about a woman who uses the service.
We also sell off a lot of the gifts and other things we get through the year in an employee auction, with the proceeds going to charity. Journalists can’t really accept gifts, so this a good way to take something given in good faith without insulting the giver and turning the gesture into something good. Donna Mandl, who pretty much runs things around her, said we raised about $600 with an auction that ended Friday.
