Whatever you’d like to tell us about yourself: I’m thrilled to be back in the East. I’ve been in Denver for the past 2 years working at our company’s corporate headquarters. York County is so beautiful this time of year and everyone has been so welcoming. I’ll be out and about in the area, running, walking, networking and just exploring. I hope to meet many of our readers and advertisers along the way.

1. What made you want to become a journalist? To feel purposeful and because journalism is so important in every community.

2. How do you see journalism changing? It is faster, it is not a product but truly information. It isn’t a newspaper or a Web site or an App. In the olden days, when I started out, it was all about the product. Now it’s all about the content and making it accessible in every delivery system we can find.

3. What do you like most about your job? The least? Making a difference in the community both for our readers, our local businesses and our employees. Least favorite is trying to keep up with all the email. Sorry if I owe you a response!

4. It’s 9:30 a.m. on a day off. What are you doing? I should be running. If I’m not, shame on me.

5. What’s been your favorite project or story recently? Why? Since I’m just arriving, I’m loving the association with the fine journalism that preceded me. I’m lucky to have a great team here. And the package of stories that went online April 20 revisiting the tragic shooting in a junior high school in Red Lion in 2003 is a sensitive reminder of the toll these tragedies take years after the actual event. That’s journalism at its best.

6. The drink that’s on your desk right now is: Water. But it is often Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. You can’t get Dunkin’ in Denver and it’s the best.

7. Your favorite journalism-related blog you read or Twitter feed you follow: The York Daily Record blogs are, of course, my favorites. But excluding those, I love Post Secret (www.postsecret.com), a community art/secrets project.

8. What’s your favorite movie? Book? I haven’t had a favorite movie for a while. I’m not sure if that’s a decline in my moviegoing habits or a decline in movies. My favorite all time movie might just be “Life is Beautiful,” the Italian film about a beautiful romance in a Nazi death camp. My favorite book of all time (it’s so hard to pick just one) but I recommend “A Prayer for Owen Meany” by John Irving all the time.

9. What’s your favorite place in York County? Right now it’s the York Daily Record and York Newspaper Company office. I’m here quite a lot.

10. What’s one piece of newsroom jargon that had to be explained to you? My father was a newspaper editor and had me in the newsroom when I was 4 years old the day President Kennedy was shot. There’s not much jargon I haven’t heard. However, digital jargon moves so fast, I sometimes need an assist with it.
