NewsVroom king Randy Parker called the York Daily Record/York Newspaper Co. space at Taste of Pennsylvania a ‘four-tenter.’ He believes it to be the largest NewsVroom event so far. And that’s over about 3 years. Check out another photo of the NewsVroom team in action below and this MediaCenter photo gallery showing those who stopped by the event.
Other community engagement fun from all over …
A kickball game between York Daily Record/York Dispatch staffers (and perhaps others from 1891 Loucks Road) is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday in the lawn that also serves as No Sweat in the Park’s venue.
‘Regardless of how many we have, we’ll make it work …,’ organizer Caitlin Kerfin of the YDR said.

For many years, the York Daily Record staff has guided high school journalists who are members of our Teen Takeover staffs.
Our staffers work with these budding journalists to create stories and photos that go online and in the York Daily Record.
Buffy Andrews wrote a note of thanks to this year’s YDR staff members – Ed Mahon, Angie Mason and Ashley May – who worked with the teens:
“Just wanted to thank you guys for another great year of leading our TeenTakeover staff. I love all of the new things you’ve done with the staff this year and your integration of digital first tools into their workflow is phenom. I know you are choosing new staffers for the coming year and wanted to make sure you knew your work is appreciated.”
Managing Editor Randy Parker followed with this note to the YDR journalists:
“This is a big undertaking and I know that each of you has invested a lot into it. This is a big deal for these students. Likely a life-shaping experience, whether they go into this business or not. Few students ever get such contact with professionals outside of the school setting. Your work here is truly a community service. On behalf of each of these students, and all the people served by their solid content, thank you.”

Hidden talents: Brett, we didn’t know how good you are musically …

Headline winner: The YDR Design Center’s Will Hanlon won this week’s headline writing contest with: “Fans’ Faces Loaded.” That was atop a story about Gluttony Day at a York Revolution game.
