NewsVroom will serve as a collection point for canned food drive

This year, as a supplement to the York Daily Record/Sunday News Christmas Emergency Fund drive to benefit the York County Food Bank, YDR staffers will be collecting nonperishable food donations at various community and sporting events visited by our NewsVroom.

It’s a great opportunity to collect food items to donate to the food bank.

If you are planning to attend an event where the NewsVroom will be on the scene, please consider bringing along canned items. The NewsVroom food drive will run through the end of February.

Check this blog regularly for updates on NewsVroom events.

Here are two upcoming events:

– Dec. 8: The NewsVroom will be attending the Boy Scout Troop 94 pancake breakfast at the Shiloh Fire Hall.

It’s going to be a busy morning. In addition to the breakfast, there will be a bake sale and Shiloh Lions Club and West Manchester Township will be holding their annual holiday party for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Also, the fire hall is holding its annual Christmas tree sale, featuring Strathmeyer Christmas trees.

The breakfast starts at 7 a.m., the Christmas party at 10 a.m.

– Dec. 22: The NewsVroom will be at the popular Christmas Magic light display at Rocky Ridge County Park. We will be parked by the admission booth. The attraction opens at 5 p.m.

Beginning Dec.16 and running through February, food donations can also be dropped off at the York Newspaper Co. offices, 1891 Loucks Road, across from the West Manchester Mall during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please help by donating cash to the Christmas Emergency Fund and food to the NewsVroom drive.
