NewsVroom enters next chapter after York County football season
We took the NewsVroom on the road to Hershey on Friday.
We’ve been following our teams through the playoffs and West York made it to Hersheypark stadium on Friday night against Bishop McDevitt.
Here’s a recap from John Clayton on the season. If you want the recap from Friday night’s game, check it out here.
It was kind of an experiment for us with the NewsVroom this football season. The goal of our new mobile media lab van was to share with the public what tools we use now to report on the news.
Having worked the GametimePa.com crew with the NewsVroom this football season, I can say that most of the time was spent getting to know a ton of middle school kids, high school kids and parents.
The cooperation we had with the schools was extremely positive. Maneuvering some of side streets and off-road places for the van was … um … fun. (The van is 17-feet-long. I’m used to driving a Honda Accord.)
But I managed it with a positive attitude, a little help from a patient and very funny Lyzz Jones, and ended up having lots of fun.
We look forward to moving ahead with the next phase of the NewsVroom. Look for us in the month of December at a scout pancake breakfast, at the JCC, and at Christmas Magic. We also plan to continue attending some winter sports venues, this time we’ll be inside.
I’ll be coordinating more visits throughout the end of the year and into 2013. Please contact me if you think the NewsVroom will be a fit with your group.
