Newsroom conversations: Party at the YDR
A baby shower at the York Daily Record – for new dad Sean Adkins – gave us two gems.
The first came before the party started.
I walked into the conference room to find another editor – who wishes to remain anonymous – putting pasta salad on the table.
Abdalla: Oh, did you make that.
Anonymous editor: Ha. I didn’t even buy it.
Later, I caught Sunday Editor Scott Blanchard at the dessert table.
Blanchard: I can’t pass up a brownie.
Abdalla: Passing up brownies is unAmerican. It makes Ben Franklin cry.
During the shower, we had fun discussing normal baby shower games, such as smushing a candy bar in a diaper and having someone guess what type of candy bar it is.
Sean Adkins had never heard of this game and was fascinated.
