Carol Tanzola and Les Jones of the Friends of Camp Security stopped by to talk to the YDR editorial board about the group’s efforts to raise money to purchase the Springettsbury Township site of a Revolutionary War POW site.
The Friends need to raise about $400,000 by May to ensure preservation of this important site.
The camp held as many as 1,500 British troops captive between 1781 and 1783. Previous excavations have produced artifacts that tantalize historians, who dream of fully exploring the site and sharing it with the public.
In the video, Tanzola and Jones share some of the fascinating history of the camp and talk about their fundraising efforts.
