Feedback from Lions Club International
In a blog post this week, I wrote about my visit to the Shiloh Lions Club. On Twitter and Facebook, I shared this question from one of the members:
“At #Lionsclub last night, someone asked why the club should have a Facebook site? Thoughts? Read about the visit: http://bit.ly/sLC4qg”
Today, Lions Club International started following me on Twitter. (That’s @RParker717 if you’d like to join the conversation.)
After thanking them for the follow, and clicking on a link to follow them as well, I mentioned that I admire the good work they do around the globe.
@Lionscluborg replied with the following:
“@Rparker717 We encourage all Lions to get online. We provide guides for Facebook and Twitter here: bit.ly/g0tJQz”
You’ll see a great page of encouragement and guidance when you go there. Good stuff for anyone wondering what a community or social service organization can be doing online.
I tweeted back:

And I sent a second Tweet:
“@lionsclubsorg I am interested in any success stories you have using social media. Looking to help/motivate local organizations.”
I’ll keep you posted here and elsewhere when I get some of those success stories. I have no doubt that this global organization has a ton of them.
BTW, I admire how this group uses its bio box effectively on Twitter. A lot of us struggle with what to write there. This group uses it to succinctly state why it matters:
“Official Twitter page for Lions Clubs International. Lions conduct vision, hearing and diabetes screenings, build parks, help youth and provide disaster relief.”
No one can look at that and think that they are using Twitter in a trite or useless manner.
