Features department looking for a digital innovator

Whenever there’s a job opening here at the Daily Record, it’s a chance to look at our positions on staff and think about how they might need to change.

This takes on more importance in this digital age, as we reach readers on a variety of platforms, from print to a website to blogs to mobile to social media and more. We’re already a leader in the industry when it comes to digital innovation, but we want people who will lead us even further.

That’s something I’m keeping in mind as I look to hire a multiplatform copy editor for our features department.

York Daily Record/York Sunday News is looking for a multiplatform copy editor for our award-winning features department. Strong design skills, impeccable copy editing abilities and a track record of online innovation are essential. The successful applicant must think digital first and be able to curate content and engage with readers across multiple platforms. This 55,000 circulation daily (87,000 Sunday) is consistently recognized as one of the top newspapers in Pennsylvania. Send a resume, examples of your work (including design and writing) and a cover letter to meyer@ydr.com. Check us out at www.ydr.com. EOE.

While the person who we hire will still need to paginate print pages, including for our FlipSide entertainment magazine, he or she will more importantly be a digital innovator, especially for FlipSide. The magazine has a website, blog and social media accounts, and we’re always looking to expand and deepen what we offer. And we’re always looking to reach more readers and figure out how to best serve them. The perfect candidate will be a leader in that endeavor.

As the ad states, interested applicants may send their cover letter, resume and work examples to meyer@ydr.com.
