Colleagues at Lebanon Daily News excelling on digital platforms

We’ve written extensively on YDR Insider about all the emphasis in the York Daily Record/Sunday News newsroom on digital delivery of stories and photos.

Our sister newspapers in Hanover, Chambersburg and Lebanon are key parts of the digital revolution, too.

Scott Downs, publisher of our sister news organization in Lebanon, gave particular words of praise to his newsroom for their work on Facebook.

Here are some of his thoughts to his staff, excerpted here:

“At the Chamber of Commerce annual breakfast meeting this morning I happened to sit with Duane Crouse, Development Director for the Boy Scouts of America. I’m glad I did. Duane complimented me on the excellent work that LDN is doing with Facebook posts. He somewhat embarrassedly admitted that he doesn’t subscribe to the paper, but then went on to tell me how regularly he links to our website via our posts – most often from his mobile phone.

“I also spoke with Karen Groh, owner of IA Design and a former LDN employee.

“She also said that LDN is doing a great job on Facebook and because she can’t often get a paper near her home, has come to rely on our posts for breaking news and general reporting of what’s going on in the area. Karen also asked who is responsible for our page and I very proudly responded – ‘all of us.’

“These are just a couple of examples – but important ones. The work that we/you are doing on all of LDN’s digital platforms matters. Keep up the great work!”

Just thought YDR Insider readers would like to see how the digital first approach is working in other newsrooms.
