York’s Trinity United Methodist Church Plans Repairs
I just heard that York’s Trinity United Methodist Church is about ready to submit a plan to York City to repair the building at 241 East King Street. They are still planning to sell the building, as the congregation has already merged with Fourth United Methodist Church. I understand that a proposed charter school is interested in the building, but that school’s application has yet to be approved by the York City School Board.
The impressive 1896 brick church, designed by noted York architect Harry Yessler, can be a real asset to the neighborhood, the city and the region, no matter what it is used for in the future. The illustration above is from a newspaper clipping about the dedication of the grand church from the files of the York County Heritage Trust Library/Archives. Thanks are due to Trinity church leaders for making this decision.
