York woman annoyed by neighbor’s catfish

Why would you have fish in your bathtub? That’s what a York woman and the local police were wondering, according to a June 10, 1949 Gazette and Daily report:

Apartment Flooded As Bathtub Fish Pond Overflows

City police uncovered a fish story last night that had Miss Anna Moore, 226 West Market Street, rather irate.

Miss Moore phoned police at 8:10 p.m. to report that she was being flooded with water from the floor above, occupied by Richard Roulka. The water, she told police was damaging her ceiling and kitchen.

Police said investigation revealed several catfish in the second floor bathtub, and water, running strongly, overflowing the tub.

Police shut off the water. The report did not say what happened to the fish.”
