Thursday’s Today Show to have York County ties

Watch the Kathie Lee and Hoda segment of the Today Show Thursday for some York County connections. I understand that the popular TV hosts visited Kohr Bros. Original Frozen Custard in Rehoboth Beach on Friday and recorded a segment that is to air Thursday, July 28.
Kathie Lee was one of the many young people that dished out the York-invented cold and creamy treat to thousands of customers at the summer resort. Former York High teacher Barry Attig and wife Lorelei spent many summers in Rehoboth while Barry managed the Kohr Bros. stand. Since Barry was Kathie Lee’s boss, the Today show invited him to join the taping, so you might see a familiar York County face there.
Kohr Bros. started out in York County in 1919. Click here for the Kohr Bros. web site to find out how the young brothers used a locally made ice cream machine, along with the products of the family dairy farm, to build a chain of stores that covers seven states from Massachusetts to Florida. There are also some neat old photos of Kohr stands of the past on the web site.
(I’m planning to stop at the Kohr’s store at the York Galleria Mall myself sometime this week for a cone–just got hungry looking at the web site.
