Share your story of York County history
Do you have a story tucked away related to York County’s rich history? Maybe it just needs a little polishing, or perhaps you haven’t written it yet. Here is your chance to share that special knowledge.
Five years ago York County Heritage Trust put out a call for papers for a proposed Journal of York County History. It has been quite a success. The fourth volume was just unveiled a little month ago, but since editing and publishing takes some time, the deadline is fast approaching for the fifth volume, to be published in 2014.
The links will take you to my posts on the previous journals, so that you can get an idea of the variety of subjects that have been addressed–anything from an 16th century herbal (giving the medicinal use of plants) brought from Europe by an early York County pastor and physician, through York County’s Civil War damage claims, to the poignant story of the fate of two York County brothers serving in World War I and the 20th century migration of workers from Bamberg, S.C. to York, Pa.
