Giant farm products from southern York County?
In response to my recent York Sunday News column on York County potatoes, Glen Rock area historian and friend John Hufnagel shared five fantasy post cards from his collection.
The informal community of Besserville consisted of a restaurant, department store and tourist cabins run by the Besser family. It was 11 miles south of York near Shrewsbury on old route 111, the Susquehanna Trail. They probably ordered the postcards to sell in the gift shop. Besides the examples shown here that Hufnagel shared, a Google search also turned up cards with the same imprint showing giant corn and giant rabbits.
