I admit I know only the basics of baseball, but I might be in the minority in York County.  For as long as I can remember, family members followed their favorite major league teams on radio and television, as well occasionally trips to the ball park to see the action

Each of our York County communities, no matter what size, seems to have its own uniquely rich history.  My own families settled, some well over two hundred years ago, in the southeastern part of the county.  I still have so much to learn, especially about the rest of the county.

The 2018 York County History Center’s Journal of York County Heritage is now available. The main articles are on World War I Glen Rock heroes; Karl Ort, an early York County aviator and a York family’s ordeal with the 2018 flu epidemic.

There are still a fair number of people around who attended the rural one-room (sometimes two-room) schools that dotted York County until the mid-twentieth century. I often use newspapers of the past to look into the lives of those who have proceeded us. The York County History Center has local newspapers on microfilm from the late 1700s up to the present. In addition, the YCHC Library/Archives now has a subscription for Pennsylvania newspapers at newspapers.com
