Names of York: Edgar Moore

More in the ongoing series on the Names of York.

Place: The former Edgar C. Moore Elementary School in the Red Lion Area School District

Who was it named after? Edgar C. Moore and last week’s “name,” Mazie Gable, were “two of Red Lion’s most time-honored educators,” according to the book “Red Lion: The First One Hundred Years.”

Interesting fact: Red Lion is a district that has seen much growth and redistricting in recent years. In 2009, Edgar C. Moore Elementary closed, as did the district’s Chanceford Elementary, and a new school, Larry J. Macaluso Elementary, opened.
