Steam into History requests your help! Clean-up day and volunteer day!
Steam into History, Inc. is a relatively new organization which is planning to bring a replica Civil War steam locomotive and passenger cars to southern York County in 2013. They plan to run the train between New Freedom and Hanover Junction, boosting tourism in those areas.
There are two opportunities in October for the public to help out.
Steam into History has a new facility at 2 W. Main Street in New Freedom which they will turn into a visitors center/ticket office/exhibition space. They are asking volunteers to stop by this Saturday, October 13, at 9:00 a.m. to help clean out left over debris from the building before they can start the renovation/remodeling project. This is light hauling work, simply moving junk from the building into dumpsters. Any help would be appreciated.
On October 27 from 9:00 a.m. until noon at the same location, 2 W. Main Street, Steam into History is hosting a volunteer workshop. Would you like to be a guide, work on the train crew, clean-up crew, help in the gift shop, parking attendant, ticket master, volunteer coordinator, docent, reenactor, be a member of the special events committee?
