Civil War 150th Anniversary – Gettysburg area events 2011-2015

The American Civil War began 150 years ago with the bombardment of Fort Sumter, following a series of events that divided the country, including the election of Abraham Lincoln and several Southern states seceding from the Union. The bitter and costly war stemmed from decades-long sharp political, social, and cultural differences between much of the South and the North.
My own ancestors took up arms and marched off to war, including two of my great-great-grandfathers in Ohio regiments and numerous great-great-uncles, including three who fought in the 7th West Virginia at Antietam and Gettysburg.
Katie Lawhon of the Gettysburg National Military Park has announced the preliminary schedule for official 150th Civil War Anniversary events at the park. These include some special events such as a display of Civil War Treasures in 2013.
Here is the schedule so far, with more events being considered or in the exploration / planning stage.
