Civil War 150 Road Show Videos from York PA now on-line!

David Spangler of York County relates the story of his ancestor in the Civil War in this video he made on August 20, 2011, during the visit of the Pennsylvania Civil War 150 Road Show to Penn Park in downtown York. Here he holds an original waybill for the train service taking veterans to and from the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg in 1913.

Dozens of videos recorded by York Countians during the Road Show’s three-day visit to York are now on-line at the Pennsylvania Civil War 150 website.

Click here to see several examples. It’s great that these folks have preserved their family traditions and stories through these brief videos.

Jim McClure and I are collecting written stories (letters, diaries, journals, manuscripts, typewritten or hand-written memories, etc.) for our upcoming 2013 book, More Civil War Voices from York County, Pa. Contact me at scottmingus@yahoo.com if you have material to share.
