American History Honors Weekend scheduled in Gettysburg

I have always enjoyed signing books and greeting the public at the annual Reenactors Appreciation Weekend every March for the past five years in Gettysburg. Nancy Lare and her crew always put on an enjoyable event. Unfortunately this year, because of a lack of funding and sponsorship, this event has been canceled. A couple of times I presented 15mm ACW wargames at Patriot Point as part of this fun event, and / or helped John Mayer of Round Top Miniatures with his 25mm games. The weekend was a kick-off for me for the spring battlefield tramping season. It will be missed.
However, a new event is being scheduled that might help create some early spring buzz in Gettysburg – the American History Honors Weekend, Friday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. – March 6 at 3:00 p.m.
This promising event is being sponsored by the Gettysburg Anniversary Committee and the American Living History Educational Society. Events include a weekend of fellowship, discounts from local merchants, and a USO-style big band dance.
